Origin

During the Late Cretaceous period there were giant reptilian monsters that roamed Tera. There were giants who’d eat grass, plants, and fruit, there were little ones who hunted and killed furry little animals and ate their flesh, and giants who’d eat other giants. Towards the end of this era the giants would look to the sky to see a large burning rock flying down from the sky. The rock crashed down but nowhere near the small continent we’re talking about but somewhere far off over the horizon. It crashed down and the bright orange glow like a sunset could be seen. As the glow begins to dissipate a great wind could be felt on the little island. The giants on our island were spared and allowed to continue life.

They had no idea how blessed they were, how could they. They were like animals, and they continued to live as such. As they continued to propagate the land grew smaller and smaller and there was less space than ever for the giants to live. So they adapted, with each generation they grew smaller and smaller, and many of the meat eaters had to adapt too. With their meals getting smaller they had to make a change so they began to eat vegetation in addition to meat and they continued to shrink too.

Over millions of years they adapted further. The first were the plant eaters, as they got smaller they needed new and creative ways to reach their food. It wasn’t a problem before when they were as big as the trees. They stood up on their hind legs and grabbed fruit from the trees, they made tools to knock down the ones they couldn’t climb to and they shared this knowledge with the former meat eaters and they grew and lived together. After that it was much like how it went down for the other races of Tera. We discovered fire, ate meat again but never each other, we made art, and language, then we started receiving gifts from the ocean. Boxes made of wood and bound with metal that were filled with all sorts of things. Clothes, food, spices, everything you could imagine. We found out through pictures and later video, inside these lost parcels that you all existed just over that horizon.

We never thought about leaving, we had everything we needed on the island. But it was shrinking. The water levels kept rising, faster than ever before, and we found ourselves with less and less land, but our population was rising. We couldn't evolve our way out of this one. We gave up our home, families got on boats and left in every direction. Some found caves and lived underground, some lived in forests, and abandoned towns and structures. But we couldn't stay hidden forever and many were forced to integrate with the other species that we unwittingly shared Tera with.

We are called Saurians and we come in, well, desperation and peace! Definitely in peace too! So hopefully you’ll let us stay.

Tera

Tera is an alternate version of Earth that is primarily populated by anthropomorphic species of animals, furries. This alternate Earth also has human denizens but all species have evolved in the way human have. Other than that it's near indistinguishable from the Earth you're from. Names of cities, states, countries, and the faces living on Tera may be different but they're all people like you and me. They're sentient, capable of free thought, choice, and enjoying everything that comes with being Terran. In terms of setting the rules are all very loose, the only thing that's specific is the Isle of Giants.
